Transistor
Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-001249
A semiconductor component with at least three terminals, used to regulate current or voltage and act as a switch or gate for electronic signals. By applying a small electrical signal to one pair of its terminals, it controls a much larger signal across another pair of terminals. Billions of transistors are fabricated onto a single microprocessor chip, where they form the logic gates that perform calculations and store data.
