Thyristor
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005994
A solid-state semiconductor device used as a switch in power control applications, capable of handling high currents and voltages. It remains in an off state until a small current pulse is applied to its gate terminal, after which it conducts current until the main current drops below a certain holding level. Common types include silicon controlled rectifiers (SCRs) and TRIACs.
