Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005433
The voltage and current conditions over which a semiconductor device, such as a transistor or thyristor, can operate without being damaged. This Safe Operating Area is a graphical representation showing the boundaries of maximum current, voltage, and power dissipation for the device. The SOA graph is a standard part of a component's datasheet and is defined for both pulsed and continuous direct current operation.
