Saturation
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-005057
The state in an electronic circuit where an active device, such as a transistor, is driven into a condition where further increases in input signal produce no further increase in output. This occurs when the device is operating at its maximum current or voltage capacity. In a bipolar junction transistor, saturation means both collector-base and base-emitter junctions are forward-biased.
