Saturate

To reach a maximum level of intensity or color in an optical sensor or display, beyond which further increases in input do not produce a corresponding increase in output. In digital imaging, saturation can lead to a loss of detail in bright areas. This phenomenon is common in CCD and CMOS sensors when exposed to excessive light.
