Charge-Coupled Device, a semiconductor device that converts light into an electrical charge, which is then read out as a digital signal. It consists of an array of photosensitive elements (pixels) that accumulate charge proportional to the intensity of incident light. This technology is widely used in digital cameras, scanners, and astronomical telescopes for image capture.
