Photoresistor
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004275
A passive electronic component, also known as a light-dependent resistor (LDR), whose electrical resistance decreases as the intensity of incident light increases. It is fabricated from a high-resistance semiconductor material where absorbed photons excite charge carriers, increasing conductivity and thus lowering resistance. Unlike photodiodes, photoresistors are non-polar devices with a slower response time, making them suitable for applications like automatic street lighting controls and camera light meters.
