Photothyristor
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004276
A semiconductor device that functions as a light-activated switch, similar to a silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) but triggered by light instead of an electrical gate pulse. When light strikes the device, it generates carriers that turn on the thyristor, allowing current to flow. These devices are employed in applications requiring optical isolation or remote control.
