Latch-up
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-003263
An unintended condition in an integrated circuit where a parasitic silicon-controlled rectifier (SCR) structure is activated, creating a low-resistance path between the power supply and ground. This can lead to excessive current flow and potentially permanent damage to the device if not quickly mitigated. It is a common concern in CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) circuits, often triggered by voltage transients or electrostatic discharge.
