Phototransistor
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-004277
A bipolar junction transistor (BJT) that is sensitive to light, where incident light acts as the base current to control a larger collector current. It amplifies the light-generated current, making it more sensitive than a photodiode. Phototransistors are used in optical sensors, light-activated switches, and optocouplers.
