Prebinding
Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-000951
A process that resolves the memory addresses of external library functions before an application is launched, storing this information within the executable file. This pre-calculation of symbol locations reduces the work the dynamic linker must perform at launch time, resulting in faster application startup. Apple's Mac OS 9 and early versions of Mac OS X used prebinding, but it was later replaced by more modern dynamic linking techniques.
