Quantization
Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-000987
The process of converting a continuous range of values into a finite set of discrete values. In digital signal processing, this involves mapping analog input values to a limited number of digital output levels. The difference between the analog input and its quantized digital value is known as quantization error.
