Describing data or a storage medium that can be accessed for reading but cannot be modified or deleted. This attribute is applied to files, directories, or entire storage devices to protect their contents from accidental or unauthorized changes. For example, a CD-ROM (Compact Disc Read-Only Memory) is a type of optical disc where data is permanently stored during manufacturing and cannot be altered by the user.
