PROM

A type of non-volatile memory chip that can be written to only once after manufacturing. The data is programmed by blowing internal fuses or creating links, a process known as 'burning' the PROM. Once programmed, the data is permanent and cannot be erased or modified, making it suitable for storing firmware or boot-up instructions.
