Scareware

A form of malicious software that generates alarming or fictitious warnings to trick a person into a specific action. These fraudulent messages often mimic system alerts, claiming to have detected viruses, registry errors, or other security issues that require immediate attention. The goal is to persuade the user to purchase and install useless or harmful software to resolve the nonexistent threat.
