Solid state
Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-001139
Relating to electronic components, devices, and systems that use semiconductor materials rather than vacuum tubes or moving mechanical parts. In data storage, a solid-state drive (SSD) uses flash memory to store data persistently without any moving platters or read heads. Unlike a hard disk drive, an SSD is silent, more resistant to physical shock, and has lower access times.
