Superscript

A character, symbol, or string of text set slightly above the normal line of type and rendered in a smaller font size. In word processing and typography, it is used for footnotes, trademarks, and ordinal indicators such as 1st or 2nd. Superscript is also fundamental in mathematical and scientific notation for representing exponents, isotopes, and particle charges, distinguishing it from subscript, which is set below the baseline.
