Symbolic link

A special type of file that points to another file or directory in the file system, acting as an alias or shortcut. When a program accesses a symbolic link, the operating system redirects the request to the target file or directory. Unlike a hard link, a symbolic link can span across different file systems and can point to non-existent targets.
