Telnet

A network protocol used on the internet or local area networks to provide a bidirectional interactive text-oriented communication facility using a virtual terminal connection. It allows a user to connect to a remote computer and execute commands as if they were directly logged into that machine. Due to its lack of encryption, it has largely been superseded by SSH for secure remote access.
