Tribal Jurisdiction Statistical Area

Formerly, statistical area identified and delineated for the 1990 decennial census by American Indian tribal officials in Oklahoma. They encompass the area that includes the American Indian population over which the tribe has jurisdiction. TJSAs replaced the Historic Areas of Oklahoma recognized by the Census Bureau for the 1980 decennial census. This concept was retired prior to Census 2000, and was replaced with Oklahoma Tribal Statistical Areas (OTSAs).
