Urban Growth Area

Legally defined entity defined around incorporated places and used to regulate urban growth. They are delineated cooperatively by state and local officials and then confirmed by state law. UGAs are a pilot project, first defined for Census 2000 in Oregon, and added in Washington for the 2010 Census.
