303(d) Listed Impaired Waters

1. A CWA Section 303(d) listed impaired water is a waterbody that is impaired or threatened and needs a TMDL. Once a waterbody is placed on the threatened and impaired waters list, it becomes one of many in line for evaluation and development of a plan for solving the problems.
2. A list of waters that fail to meet any applicable water quality standards, that states are required, under section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act, to assemble and update once every 2 years. EPA is required to determine the completeness of such lists.
