Additional Risk
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-000470
1. The calculated difference in risk of a particular condition between those who are exposed and those who are not. This measure is derived by subtracting the rate (usually incidence or mortality) of the disease among the unexposed persons (Pu) from the corresponding rate among the exposed (Pe), i.e., AR= Pe-Pu. The AR is an absolute measure of the excess risk attributed to exposure.
2. The additional proportion of total animals that respond in the presence of the dose, or the probability of response at dose d, P(d), minus the probability of response in the absence of exposure, P(0).
3. The calculated difference in risk of a particular condition between those who are exposed and those who are not. The AR is an absolute measure of the excess risk attributed to exposure.
4. The difference between the cancer incidence under the exposure condition and the background incidence in the absence of exposure. [RAIS 2004]
5. [EPA 2003]
