Biogenic sedimentary rock

Biogenic sedimentary rocks form from the accumulation of organic remains consisting of both biogenic mineral and organic residues, such organic reefs, fecal concentrates, bone accumulations, swamp peat accumulations. The combined effects of time, temperature, and pressure, non-mineral organic residues may eventually be converted to coal, oil, gas, and tar.
