Biogeochemical Cycle
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-003198
1. Movements through the Earth system of key chemical constituents essential to life, such as carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and phosphorus.
2. Natural processes that recycle nutrients in various chemical forms from the environment, to organisms, and then back to the environment. Examples are the carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorus, and hydrologic cycles.
3. The chemical interactions among the atmosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, and lithosphere.
