Biotransformation

1. Conversion of a substance into other compounds by organisms; includes biodegradation.

2. Biotransformation refers to the process by which compounds are biologically changed. One example is dechlorination.

3. Biotransformation is the process whereby a substance is changed from one chemical to another (transformed) by a chemical reaction within the body." - (National Library of Medicine and Monosson, 2007).

4. Refers to the alteration of a contaminant in the body.
