Blank
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-003405
1. A bottle containing only dilution water or distilled water; the sample being tested is not added. Tests are frequently run on a SAMPLE and a BLANK and the differences are compared.
2. A sample subjected to the usual analytical or measurement process to establish a zero baseline or background value. Sometimes used to adjust or correct routine analytical results. A sample that is intended to contain none of the analytes of interest. A blank is used to detect contamination during sample handling preparation and/or analysis.
3. A specimen that is intended to contain none of the analytes of interest and which is subjected to the usual analytical or measurement process to establish a zero baseline or background value. {OW/TSC} {OAR/OAQPS} {OECA} {ORCR}
4. Different types of blanks include: calibration blank, equipment blank, field blank, instrument blank, laboratory blank, laboratory reagent blank, method blank, preparation blank, reagent blank (or method reagent blank).
5. A specimen that is intended to contain none of the analytes of interest and which is subjected to the usual analytical or measurement process to establish a zero baseline or background value. Different types of blanks include: calibration blank, equipment blank, field blank, instrument blank, laboratory blank, laboratory reagent blank, method blank, preparation blank, reagent blank (or method reagent blank).
