Broker

1. Refers to an individual or group of individuals who act as an agent or intermediary between the sellers and buyers of recyclable materials. (U.S. EPA, 1989)

2. An independent person or firm who acts on behalf of the insured in placing business with the insurance company. Typically, a broker's compensation is on a commission basis.

3. Any entity that facilitates a trade between a buyer and seller.

4. A person paid a fee or commission for executing buy or sell orders for a customer. In commodity futures trading, the term may refer to: (1) Floor broker, a person who actually executes orders on the trading floor of an exchange; (2) Account executive or associated person, the person who deals with customers in the offices of futures commission merchants; or (3) the futures commission merchant.

5. Firm that does not itself perform, manage or supervise the work of its contract or subcontract in a manner consistent with the normal business practices for contractors or subcontractors in its line of business.

6. Entity that facilitates a trade of emission credits between a buyer and seller.
