Consumptive Water Use

1. Water removed from available supplies without return to a water resources system, e.g. water used in manufacturing, agriculture, and food preparation.

2. That part of water withdrawn that is evaporated, transpired by plants, incorporated into products or crops, consumed by humans or livestock, or otherwise removed from the immediate water environment. Also referred to as water consumed.

3. Use that permanently withdraws water from its source.
