Dependent Variable

1. A variable that may, it is believed, be predicted by or caused by one or more other variables called independent variables.
2. In a statistical analysis, the outcome variable(s) or the variable(s) whose values are a function of other variable(s) (called independent variable(s) in the relationship under study).
3. In experiments, a variable that is influenced by or dependent upon changes in the independent variable. [CancerWeb 2005]
