Dependent variable

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004927

A variable whose value is determined by the values of one or more other variables, known as independent variables, in a mathematical relationship or experiment. In atmospheric science, a dependent variable might be temperature, which is influenced by factors like solar radiation, cloud cover, and advection. Its changes are observed and measured in response to manipulations or changes in the independent variables.
