Erythrocyte

1. Mature erythrocytes are non-nucleated, biconcave disks containing hemoglobin whose function is to transport oxygen.
2. A cell that carries oxygen to all parts of the body.
3. Cell specialized for oxygen transport, having a high concentration of hemoglobin in the cytoplasm and little else; biconcave, anucleate discs, 7nm diameter in mammals.
