Event Causation

Event causation follows Hume in stating that causation is a connection between one event and another. For example, the striking of the window by the brick (causal event) caused the breaking of the window (effect event). Events include states or standing conditions as well as discrete happenings. An event may be defined as an object assuming a property at a time (Kim 1993).
