Gamma ray
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-012015
1. A photon that has neither mass nor electrical ge that is emitted by the nucleus of an atom; measured in gamma logging and output from a source used in gamma-gamma logging.
2. Form of ionizing radiation that is made up of weightless packets of energy called photons. Gamma rays can pass completely through the human body; as they pass through, they can cause damage to tissue and DNA.
