Microfiltration
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-017215
1. Membrane filtration process commonly used in water treatment.Membranes are primarily used for particulate and microbiological contaminant removal.Particulate contaminants are retained by the membrane and removed during backwashing of the membrane filter much the same way particulates are removed from a rapid sand filter. The membrane pore size is between 0.1 to 0.5 µm.
2. Using a device with a filter media to physically prevent biological contamination from passing through. Ceramic and solid block carbon are commonly used to provide microfiltration.
