1. Comprehensive set of digital spatial data -- based on U.S. Geological Survey 1:100,000 scale topographic maps -- that contains information on surface water features such as streams, rivers, lakes and ponds.

2. The NHD represents the surface water drainage network with features such as rivers, streams, canals, lakes, ponds, coastline, dams, and stream gages.
