Natural gas combustion emission
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-018249
Emission caused by the burning of natural gas (methane). The burning needed to generate energy releases carbon dioxide and water and by-products that can include unburned hydrocarbons, methane, and carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide, methane, and many of the unburned hydrocarbons slowly oxidize into carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Common sources of fossil fuel combustion include cars and electric utilities.
