2. Any microorganism that produces disease (bacteria, viruses, yeasts, molds and parasites).

3. A disease-causing organism.

4. Disease-causing agent, especially microorganisms such as bacteria, protozoa, and viruses.

7. Microorganisms (e.g., bacteria, viruses, or parasites) that can cause disease in humans, animals and plants.

8. Any microorganism that is infectious or toxigenic and causes disease. Pathogens include parasites, viruses, and some fungi/yeast and bacteria.

9. A disease-causing agent, such as a certain bacterium, parasite, virus, or fungus.

10. A pathogen is a virus or microorganism (including its viruses and plasmids, if any) that has the ability to cause disease in other living organisms (i.e., humans, animals, plants, microorganisms).

11. Microorganisms (e.g., bacteria, viruses, or parasites) that can cause disease in humans, animals and plants. [Thesaurus of Terms Used in Microbial Risk Assessment]
