Probabilistic Causation
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-022204
1. Metaphysical probabilism-Because of the inherent unpredictability of the world, effects can be predicted only as probabilities.
2. Epistemological probabilism-Because of incomplete knowledge, causes are not determinate, but C is a cause of E if the occurrence of C increases the probability of E. That is, P(E|C) > P(E). This concept of causation is also referred to as probability raising.
