Protein Expression

1. The biosynthesis of new (often sets of distinct, functionally related) protein products, usually involving new mRNA transcripts, typically in response to an activating stimulus.
2. Refers to the amount of a protein made in a cell. The study of protein expression in cancer cells may give information about a specific type of cancer, the best treatment to use, and how well a treatment works.
