1. A pond, lake, tank or basin, natural or man-made, used for the storage, regulation and control of water.

2. Any natural or artificial holding area used to store, regulate, or control water.

3. A natural or artificial place where water is collected or stored for use, especially water for supplying a community, irrigating land and furnishing power.

4. The habitat in which an infectious agent normally lives, grows and multiplies; reservoirs include human reservoirs, animals reservoirs, and environmental reservoirs.
