  "definition": "1. The ability of a microform or optical disk system to record and display fine detail.\n\n2. The sharpness of words, numbers, and lines, as in images or microimages.\n\n3. Refers to the smallest unit of measurement that can be distinguished using a particular instrument or method; based on the ability to separate two measurements which are very close together.\n\n4. the measurement used in typesetting to express quality of output. Measured in dots per inch, the greater the number of dots, the smoother and cleaner appearance the character/image will have. Photographs need to be scanned at a resolution of 300 dots per inch. Screen resolution is 72 dots per inch and something that looks wonderful on your computer screen or on the Internet will look terrible when printed.",
