Storm sewer

1. A sewer that collects and transports surface runoff to a discharge point (infiltration basin, receiving stream, treatment plant).
2. A sewer that carries intercepted surface runoff, street wash and other wash waters, or drainage, but excludes domestic sewage and industrial wastes except for unauthorized cross-connections.
3. A system of pipes (separate from sanitary sewers) that carries water runoff from buildings and land surfaces.
4. Sewer designed to carry only storm waters, surface runoff, street wash waters, and drainage.
