Surrogate Analyte

Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-027408

1. A pure chemical which is unlikely to be found in any sample, and which is added to a sample volume in a known amount before extraction. Surrogates are evaluated using the same procedures as other sample components. Because surrogates are present in every sample, they provide a means of assessing method performance for each sample extraction. {OW/TSC}
