Spike
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-026372
1. A substance that is added to an environmental sample to increase the concentration of target analyte by known amount; used to assess measurement accuracy (spike recovery). Spike duplicates are used to assess measurement precision.
2. To add a known concentration or amount of analyte to a sample for the purpose of determining recovery.
3. A known quantity of an analyte added to a sample for the purpose of determining recovery or efficiency (analyst spikes), or for quality control (blind spikes). {OW/EAD} {OPP} {OAR/OAQPS} {ORCR}
4. A known quantity of an analyte added to a sample for the purpose of determining recovery or efficiency. {ORD} {OECA}
5. A known quantity of an analyte added to a sample for the purpose of determining recovery or efficiency. (ORD)
6. A known quantity of an analyte added to a sample for the purpose of determining recovery or efficiency (analyst spikes), or for quality control (blind spikes).
