Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure

Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-028403

1. A test designed to determine whether a waste is hazardous or requires treatment to become less hazardous; also can be used to monitor treatment techniques for effectiveness.

2. The TCLP is a testing procedure used to identify the toxicity of wastes and is the most commonly used test for degree of mobilization offered by a solidification and stabilization process. Under this procedure, a waste is subjected to a process designed to model the leaching effects that would occur if the waste was disposed of in a RCRA Subtitle D municipal landfill.

3. Analytic test method used to measure compliance with the metal treatment standards.

4. A lab procedure designed to predict whether a particular waste is likely to leach chemicals into ground water at dangerous levels.

5. EPA Method 1311
