Zone of Saturation

1. The layer beneath the surface of the land in which all openings are filled with water.
2. The soil or rock located below the top of the groundwater table. By definition, the zone of saturation is saturated with water.
3. The layer beneath the surface of the land containing openings that may fill with water.
4. Soil or rock located below the top of the ground water table that is saturated with water.
5. That part of the earth's crust in which all voids are filled with water.
