Saturated Zone

Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-024783

1. The zone in which all the voids in the rock or soil are filled with water at a pressure that is greater than atmospheric. The water table is the top of the saturated zone in an unconfined aquifer.

2. Portion of the subsurface environment in which all voids are ideally filled with water under pressure greater than atmospheric. The zone in which the voids in the rock or soil are filled with water at a pressure greater than atmospheric. The water table is the top of the saturated zone in an unconfined aquifer.

3. The saturated zone is the area beneath the surface of the land in which all openings are filled with water.

4. The area below the water table where all open spaces are filled with water.

5. The underground area below the water table where all open spaces are filled with water. A well placed in this zone will be able to pump ground water.

6. An underground geologic layer in which all pores and fractures are filled with water.

7. The area below the water table where all open spaces are filled with water under pressure equal to or greater than that of the atmosphere.

8. That part of the earth's crust in which all voids are filled with water.

9. The zone in which all the voids in the rock or soil are filled with water at greater than atmospheric pressure. The water table is the top of the saturated zone in an unconfined aquifer.
