Backshell

A mechanical device attached to the rear of a multi-pin electrical connector to support the terminated cable or wire bundle. It provides strain relief, environmental sealing against contaminants like dust and moisture, and sometimes electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding for the connection point. Backshells are specified by their thread size to match the connector, their cable entry size, and their angle, such as straight, 45-degree, or 90-degree configurations.
