Beneficial insect

An insect species that provides a positive service in an agricultural or horticultural setting, such as pollination or natural pest control. These insects are integral to integrated pest management (IPM) strategies, where they prey on or parasitize crop-damaging pests. Examples include lady beetles, which consume aphids, and the honey bee, which is a primary pollinator for over 90 commercially grown crops.
